EU digital single market law

The European Union is in the process of establishing, refining and developing a so-called digital single market.

In that context, it adopted and proposed a whole series of new rules, ranging from a General Data Protection Regulation over a copyright Directive to a proposed Artificial Intelligence Act. The adoption of those instruments has an impact on the foundations and shape of the EU internal market, the study of which has also been at the heart of the Institute’s activities.

At present, different research projects focus on the European Union digital single market law. Those projects focus on platforms, customs rules, State aid mechanisms, data governance and artificial intelligence regulation. As the Digital Single Market further takes shape, the Institute will continue to follow and comment on those developments.
