Our research focuses on the individual looking for legal protection when her or his rights have been violated. Building on a long tradition, research into the scope of effective judicial protection offered in the EU legal order, on citizenship rights and on fundamental principles (transparency, privacy) incorporated in EU law continues to constitute one of the key pillars of our Institute.

More recently, the Institute also focuses on the administrative implementation and enforcement of EU law by national administrations and courts. Our researchers work on topics ranging from the independence of national authorities, the impartiality of administrative decision-making and judicial protection against national authorities’ decisions applying European Union law.
